The number of repossession orders granted in Co Tipperary stood at 45 between January and June of this year, almost equalling the total number of orders granted in all of last year.
That was according to Independent TD Michael Lowry this morning as he called for new legislation to further help out those experiencing difficulties with their mortgages.
Figures he has in his possession reveal that in 2014 the circuit courts in Co Tipperary received 341 applications for repossession.  48 were granted.

The Department of Justice has given the green light for Clonmel garda station to be based on the site of the old Kickham Barracks in the town.
Announcing the news locally, Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Tom Hayes said the project will be included as part of the next capital development plan, which will see €60 million spent on the building and refurbishment of garda stations nationally.
It’s widely agreed that the present garda station in Clonmel is no longer fit for purpose.

The Justice Minister today announced that €5.3 million is to be spent on acquiring garda vehicles to bolster efforts to tackle organised crime.
Today’s announcement targets the use, by criminal gangs, of motorway networks to carry out burglaries and other criminal activities.
Criminals from the capital and other areas are widely suspected of using the motorway network to quickly access rural areas and to make their escape just as quickly.
The matter was brought to public attention by a number of speakers at a recent anti-crime meeting at the Anner Hotel in Thurles.
Minister Frances Fitzgerald today announced that the money will be spent on providing gardai with high-powered vehicles, marked and unmarked patrol cars, cars for surveillance and covert operations, motorcycles for high visibility road policing and vehicles for public order policing.
