An elderly man has died in a house fire outside Clonmel this morning.

 At around 1.30am the fire service was called to a fire in Kilsheelan.

They discovered the body of a man in his 80s.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and it is understood that he was the only person in the house at the time.

A techinal examination of the scene is underway

ESB crews from Cavan and Monaghan were today called in to assist crews in Co Tipperary in restoring the electricity supply to thousands of customers.
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, Ger Denihan of ESB Networks said that crews from areas where damage to the electricity network was minimal were being dispatched to areas where the need for additional support was greatest.

The first same-sex marriages have taken place in Ireland today after the Marriage Law 2015 came into law.
 
Dublin-based couple Richard Dowling and Cormac Gollogly have become the first same-sex couple to tie the knot. 
 
The couple who have been together for 12 years got married in Clonmel, Co Tipperary this morning.
